We have a very unique item for you. Here is your chance to own a beautiful unique piece donated by The Wildlife Center at Legends Ranch. Their Artisans for Conservation team’s mission is to “instill core values for conservation and ethical hunting in youth and adults through education, advocacy, and leading by example”. They run two programs; A Youth Challenge to get special needs children outdoors and Purple Hearts Hunts to support our veterans. Leaf Carvings are one of the most unique forms of art originating in Zhou Dynasty. Its inspiration comes from the beauty of nature. Leaves are selected from mature maple trees. Once gathered the leaves are put through a 60-step process such as shaving, pressing, curing, dying and so on. The outer surface of the leaf is delicately taken off without cutting or removing the leaf veins which add details into the subject matter of the carving.

Using the leaf as a canvas, the artist takes full advantage of the leaf’s form and structure to create an interesting and district carving. After special processing, the leaf blade forms a natural permanent pigment, so the color is stable and corrosion resistant. An anti-0aging treatment helps the leaf exceed the durability of think paper. The finished product is strong, durable and beautiful. Each piece is unique, elegant and sophisticated. Being recognized as the most famous and native national symbol, there is a special meaning tom own a maple leaf carving from New England. The donated item features a heard of caribou meandering across the frozen tundra.

Lehigh Valley SCI would like to thank The Wildlife Center for their hard work and their generous donation.
